Health Connect Not Syncing? How to Get Your Weight Data Flowing

You allowed every permission, your scale app or Samsung Health has the numbers, and Health Connect still shows nothing. Here is why the hub is empty, the 60-second check that tells you which side is broken, and the fix, app by app.

The short version. Health Connect is a hub, not a data source. It only holds what other apps write into it, and it has no manual entry screen of its own. "Permissions allowed" opens the doors; it does not put anything in the room. If it shows no weight data, the app that should be sending weight almost certainly is not, and the fix lives in that app's own sync settings. We hit this exact wall on our own test device and verified every fix on this page in August 2026.

How Health Connect actually works

Health Connect is part of Android itself. Since Android 14 it is built into the operating system on every phone (on Android 13 it was a separate Google app), and it works the same way on a Samsung, a Pixel, a OnePlus, or anything else. It is a shared, permission-gated store of health data that lives entirely on the phone: no account, no cloud, nothing leaves the device.

Three roles surround it. Writer apps put data in: Samsung Health, the Fitbit app, a smart scale's app, Garmin Connect. The hub stores that data and controls access with one permission checkbox per data type. Reader apps, like WeightSnap, ask permission to read specific types and import what they find.

The part that catches nearly everyone: the hub has no pen. There is no screen in Health Connect where a person can type a weight. Data only arrives when a writer app sends it. So the question is never "did I allow Health Connect," it is "which app is supposed to be writing my weight, and is it actually doing that?"

The 60-second check: is anything in there?

Before touching any other setting, look inside the hub itself:

  1. Open the phone's Settings and search for Health Connect.
  2. Tap Browse data (on some phones it is under "Data and access").
  3. Open Body measurements → Weight.

This one screen splits the problem in half. If your entries are listed there, the hub has them and the problem is on the reading side: check the reader app's permission includes Weight specifically. If the list is empty, no app has ever written weight into the hub, and no amount of permission-granting on the reading side will conjure it. The fix is in the sending app, below.

While you are in Browse data, glance at Activity → Steps too. If steps are flowing but weight is not, the pipe works and only the weight category is switched off somewhere. If both are empty, the sending app is not writing anything at all.

Samsung Health not syncing to Health Connect: the sequence that works

Samsung Health does sync weight to Health Connect, including manually entered weights, on version 6.22.5 or later. But the permission screen you see when you "connect" the two is only one of several gates, and the others are easy to miss. This is the full sequence, in order, verified on a Samsung device in August 2026:

  1. Enable the buried consent. Open Samsung Health → Settings → scroll to Consents → enable "Consent to the processing of health and wellness data." With this off, Samsung Health silently writes nothing to Health Connect, no matter what the permission screens say. This is the accepted fix on Samsung's own community forum, where dozens of users reported the identical symptom.
  2. Turn on Samsung account sync. Samsung Health → Settings → Sync with Samsung account → on, then tap Sync now. Counterintuitively, Samsung's own documentation lists their cloud sync as a prerequisite for the local Health Connect handoff.
  3. Restart the phone. The community-verified fix includes a restart, and in our testing it mattered.
  4. Add or edit an entry. This is the step nobody documents clearly: Samsung Health pushes data to Health Connect as it is created or changed. Entries that existed before the connection was healthy will not push themselves. A brand-new weigh-in should appear in Health Connect within about a minute; to send older entries across, edit each one (even trivially) so it counts as changed.

If a fresh entry still does not appear after all four steps: update Samsung Health from the Play Store, clear its cache (App info → Storage → Clear cache, not Clear data), or disconnect and reconnect it from Health Connect's App permissions screen, testing with a new entry after each attempt.

On a Pixel or any non-Samsung phone

Same hub, different writer. The common ones:

Your setupThe writer appWhere its switch lives
Pixel, or manual entry with no Samsung HealthFitbit (works without any Fitbit device)Fitbit app → profile → settings → Health Connect: turn syncing on. Log weight manually in Fitbit and it writes to the hub.
Smart scale (Withings, Renpho, Eufy, etc.)The scale's own appEach app has a Health Connect or "connected apps" toggle in its settings, and several ship with it off. Weigh in once after enabling to test.
Garmin watch or scaleGarmin ConnectGarmin Connect → settings → Health Connect: one-way sharing of steps, sleep, weight, and heart rate into the hub.

The pattern is always the same: the writer app has its own sharing switch, separate from the permission screen, and the test is always a fresh measurement followed by the 60-second check.

Why your weight shows up in kilograms

Health Connect stores and displays everything in SI units. A 199.9 lb entry appears in Browse data as about 90.7 kg. Nothing is corrupted, and nothing needs fixing: apps that read the data convert it back to your display unit. It just surprises people the first time they look inside the hub.

On iPhone: Apple Health is simpler

iOS has one hub, Apple Health, and it avoids the empty-hub confusion in two ways: most scale and watch apps write to it by default, and Apple Health has its own manual entry, so you can type a weight directly into the Health app and any permitted reader can import it. If weight is not importing on iOS, the check is the same idea in one step: open the Health app, look at Body Measurements, and if the data is there, review the reader app's permissions under Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.

WeightSnap reads weight and activity from Health Connect on Android and from Apple Health on iOS, with per-type permissions, and it works fully without either: typing a weigh-in takes two taps, and the trend, verdict, and charts run on whatever data you give them. The how to use WeightSnap guide covers both imports, and support answers the common questions. WeightSnap for iPhone is on the App Store; WeightSnap for Android is in closed beta testing ahead of its Google Play release, as of August 2026.

Frequently asked questions

Why is Health Connect showing no data even though permissions are allowed?

Because permissions and data are two different things. Health Connect is a hub, not a source: allowing an app access only opens a door. If no app on the phone is actually writing weight into Health Connect, the hub stays empty and every reader app truthfully reports nothing available. The fix lives in the sending app (Samsung Health, Fitbit, a scale app), which usually has its own sharing or sync toggle separate from the permission screen.

Does Samsung Health sync weight to Health Connect?

Yes, including manually entered weights, on Samsung Health 6.22.5 or later. But three things must all be true: the health data processing consent must be enabled in Samsung Health Settings under Consents, Sync with Samsung account must be on, and the entry must be created or changed after the connection is working, because the sync is event-driven. We verified this sequence on our own device in August 2026.

Why did my older entries never sync to Health Connect?

Samsung Health pushes data to Health Connect as it is created or changed. Entries that existed before the connection was healthy do not push themselves. Editing an old entry, even trivially, counts as a change and sends it across. A brand-new entry is the quickest way to test whether the pipe is working.

Why does Health Connect show my weight in kilograms?

Health Connect stores and displays measurements in SI units, so a 199.9 lb entry appears there as about 90.7 kg. Nothing is corrupted or converted incorrectly. Apps that read the data, including WeightSnap, display it back in your chosen unit.

Can I type a weight directly into Health Connect?

No. Health Connect has no manual entry screen. Data only gets in when a writer app puts it there. To enter weight by hand on Android, use an app that writes to Health Connect, such as Samsung Health or Fitbit, or simply type it into the app you actually use for tracking.

Does WeightSnap work without Health Connect?

Fully. Typing your weight into WeightSnap is the app's core loop, and everything (trend, verdict, charts) works from entries you log directly. Health Connect import is a convenience for people whose weight arrives via a smart scale or another app, and for auto-filling activity data like steps and sleep in the daily check-in.

WeightSnap is a tracking tool, not medical advice. This page is a technical reference about health data plumbing on Android and iOS. App names and settings paths are accurate to the best of our knowledge as of August 2026 and can change with app updates; the Samsung Health sequence was verified on a Samsung device in August 2026.
